Experienced scientist brings specialized soil management expertise to farmland management and investment firm
OTTAWA, Canada, January 5, 2010 — Bonnefield today announced the appointment of Erik Apedaile, P.Ag. as Chief Agrologist. Bonnefield is Canada’s first national farmland management and investment company. The company purchases and holds Canadian farmland and preserves it for farming-use by leasing the farmland to progressive operators. Bonnefield works with farm operators over the long-term to improve farm efficiency, as well as protect the integrity of the land.
Erik is a Professional Agrologist with over sixteen years experience in surface water quality management, biosolids management, soil and water conservation, environmental and public health impacts of agricultural activity and agronomy. In 2000, Erik established the firm Apedaile Environmental Management and has advised both public and private sector clients in the areas of environmental monitoring, biosolids management and agricultural nutrient management. He provides ongoing environmental program management support to Parmalat Canada and Hershey Canada and the City of Ottawa’s biosolids management program.
Erik has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a specialization in soil science from the University of Guelph and a Non-Agricultural Source Material Nutrient Management Strategy Development Certificate from the Ontario Ministry of Environment. He is a member of the Agricultural Institute of Canada, the Ontario Institute of Agrologists and the Canadian Society of Soil Science and is a governor of the Agricultural Institute of Canada Foundation.
